Applications that run inside the base station itself, over the E3 interface, for decisions that must be made faster than a round trip to the RIC allows. The OTAF dApp SDK is planned.
In-node applications running over E3. This SDK and its applications are on the roadmap.
dApps run in the tightest control loop in O-RAN — inside the base station, under 10 ms, over the E3 interface. Because E3 comes from O-RAN's research group and is still settling, the OTAF dApp SDK is planned and will follow once the interface stabilises. It will share the same structure as the rApp and xApp SDKs.
The dApp SDK will join the rApp and xApp SDKs under OTAF, sharing the same open-source foundation. In the meantime, the rApp SDK is released and the xApp SDK is in development.
