What is Q-RAN?

QRAN Architecture

Quantum-Safe RAN Solution
Q-RAN integrates Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) and Quantum Random Number Generators (QRNG) into O-RAN, enhancing security and resilience against quantum threats. By adopting Q-RAN, telecommunications networks are future-proofed with security, privacy, and performance in the quantum era. O-RAN’s reliance on classical cryptography poses significant risks as quantum computing evolves.

Q-RAN addresses these challenges by integrating advanced post-quantum techniques, including Module-Lattice-Based Key-Encapsulation Mechanism (ML-KEM) and Digital Signature Algorithm (ML-DSA) for secure key exchange and authentication. It employs QRNGs to generate truly random seeds, ensuring cryptographic strength, while incorporating PQ-mTLS(mTLS1.3 with PQ support), PQ-IPSec(IKEv2 with PQ support) , PQ-DTLS(DTLS1.3 with PQ support), and AES256 to secure communication channels and protect data integrity. Q-RAN’s comprehensive framework ensures Open RAN deployments are fortified against quantum threats, migrating from Classical O-RAN to Post-Quantum O-RAN
